Desktop Impressions

Desktop Impressions is a desktop publishing business owned by an independent contractor who specializes in newsletter publication and website enhancement for local government offices.  Owner Kristin Pechman has over 28 years of city government experience.  She resides in the northern Twin Cities Metropolitan Area of the State of Minnesota, along with her husband John Pechman and their four children.

History of my business

I began working for the City of Little Canada, Minnesota when I was a teenager in high school.  City government really interested me and I enjoyed working with the public.  My employer (read his testimonial!) gave me the flexibility of using my creativity to enhance the printed materials that our office distributed to the public.  I enjoyed this type of work so much that I offered to publish our city newsletter "in-house" and I eventually completed training to become certified in desktop publishing.  Additionally, I created Little Canada's website which has received many positive comments due to its appearance, content, and ease of use.  In this endeavor, I worked with the League of Minnesota Cities and a local company called Avenet Web Solutions where I served as a beta city to test the GovOffice website creation tool, a tool that is used by cities throughout the United States.

After 28 years of service to Little Canada, I discovered that there was a need for specialized services to help other local government offices.  I decided to retire from my position with Little Canada to open my own desktop publishing business in an effort to address those needs.
